AFTAID - Aid for the Aged in Distress offers cash grants to needy elderly persons for the purchase of necessities e.g. a new washing machine, bedding, a riser chair, or by contributions for larger items, e.g. walk-in shower, a stair lift or electric-powered scooter. The calls on AFTAID's resources continue to increase with reports predicting increasing hardship for elderly people over the next 25 years. With no government funding, AFTAID relies on the generosity of the public.
