The 2013 CHECT South Coast Spectacular, Brighton to Weymouth, was a huge success with a fantastic group of determined and motivated riders generating funds and awareness for the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.
For many on the team this was an incredibly hard challenge and further than they could ever have imagined riding before they started training. But the teamwork was fantastic and whenever anyone started to flag there was always someone else ready to encourage them and keep them going.
An enthusiastic group of friends, family and supporters followed the ride throughout, joining the team for dinner at the excellent Mercure Dolphin Hotel in Southampton after Day 1 and being there at the finish in Weymouth.
The weather was good, which makes a change on this ride, but for every steep climb done the riders were rewarded with some stunning views.
And with over £13,000 raised already for CHECT these riders have made a huge difference to a small charity doing really important work.
So finally well done to all the riders. Paul, Owen, Caroline, Katy, Julie, Clive and Chrissy. Forget Cav and Wiggo – these are the real cycling heroes!
