Happy New Year from the Ride2Raise team.

Although we currently have no rides until April, December was still a busy month for the Ride2Raise team. The ‘off-season’ between the last ride of 2011 and the first ride of 2012 means loads of behind the scenes work.

This involves organising hotel rooms, double checking or modifying routes, signing up charities and riders, putting in place the team members we need on each ride… and loads more to ensure that all our rides run smoothly and give the riders that special ‘Pro-Team Experience’ which we’re so proud of.

It’s a long list of things to do, and with more than twice as many rides in 2012, compared to 2011, there’s a lot to sort out. Here are the latest Ride2Raise News stories.

New Hotel Partner

Smart and Simple Hotel in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, is the latest great hotel to be signed up to accommodate our riders at the end of a long day in the saddle. It has been described as “The smartest bed and breakfast accommodation in Kent”.

The rates are very reasonable yet the rooms all benefit from fabulous beds made up with Egyptian cotton and duvets, flat-screen LCD televisions with alarm and radio, work stations with wireless broadband, and views of either the secret garden or Tunbridge Wells common. All have stylish and practical en-suite facilities with drench head showers and Egyptian cotton towels, and there’s even a complimentary cardio gym.

Huge ProAV ride confirmed

One of the most memorable rides of 2011 was the ProAV Castle to Castle for White Lodge Centre, a tough two day ride organised for ProAV, a Professional Audio Visual Systems and Support company. The ride raised over £11,000 for White Lodge Centre, who provide opportunities for disabled people and are based in Surrey. You can read the full ride diary HERE.

We are very happy to announce that The ProAV ride for 2012 has now been confirmed, and it’s a biggie!

18 riders will take part in a two day ride from Henley to Cheltenham and back, and once again White Lodge Centre will benefit from the fundraising efforts.

It will be the most riders we’ve ever had on a Ride2Raise challenge and we can’t wait. Full details of the ride will follow when we have everything in place.

…which means we have an established route available

We have found that charities are very keen to establish an annual fundraising event through Ride2Raise which can be promoted all year round, and built in to their annual fundraising calendar.

The Castle to Castle route – Windsor Castle to Corfe Castle – which was used for the 2011 ProAV ride for White Lodge Centre, offers a fantastic, challenging and satisfying ride for cyclists at all levels.

If your charity or organisation would like to make this route your own, either for an annual event or just for a one-off ride in 2012, get in touch with Ride2Raise using the Contact Raise Magazine form at the top of the page or the contact form on the Ride2Raise website, or call Richard on 01306 509147.

Only two places left on Seven Hills to Surrey Hills

One of our established rides, Seven Hills to Surrey Hills – Sheffield to Box Hill – for Brigitte Trust, is almost full. The ride doesn’t take place until June but it has proved very popular.

One of the things which makes Ride2Raise challenges special is that we usually keep the number of riders low, so we can provide personal atttention to riders, and maintain a friendly and fun atmosphere at all times.

Details of the ride are HERE. If you would like to join the Seven Hills to Surrey Hills ride this year, now is the time to get in touch.

White Lodge to White Cliffs fully booked

September’s White Lodge to White Cliffs ride for White Lodge Centre is also proving to be very popular so, again, if it’s a ride you would like to take part in please let us know of your interest.

Training rides

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to take part in one of our 2012 challenges. Keep up the training and it’s never too soon to start your fundraising efforts.

We look forward to seeing you on a Ride2Raise introductory training ride. If you have signed up for a challenge we’ll be in touch about when it will be.
